When preparing your favorite meals with Thermomix®, some food may catch and burn on the base of the Thermomix mixing bowl. Information on why this may happen, and ways to minimize the chances of it happening are listed below.
- The ingredients are cooked for too long
- The ingredient mix is not moist enough, i.e. it is too many dry ingredients or does not have enough water
- A thick dish like risotto was not stirred between the recipe steps and thick ingredients settle on the bottom
All Thermomix recipes are tested multiple times to ensure the best cooking experience with excellent results, every time. As we are continuously working on making your experience even better, it is important that you always run the latest version of the Thermomix software.
To prevent food catching and burning:
Follow the exact recipe and place the ingredients into the mixing bowl in the order they are listed in the recipe. Any variation in the steps or ingredients will lead to a different or poor experience.
Use the exact ingredient as written in the recipe.
We are aware that some ingredients may differ from region to region, for example, sausages, but always try to use the ingredients recommended in the recipe.
Leave onions or vegetables in large pieces when cooking at high temp. recipes. Avoid chopping into smaller pieces until cooked.
Normally, vegetables are placed into the Thermomix mixing bowl in 2-3 cm pieces. Anything smaller may result in ingredients getting stuck under the mixing knife, becoming too hot and burning. Juices from the vegetables may also brown.
Add lemon juice with all Sugar Stages recipes.
Lemon juice or citric acid prevents crystallization and helps avoid burnt caramel. (Please note: the presence of lemon juice is always included as a step in the relevant recipes.)
The ingredient mix is not moist enough, i.e. it is too many dry ingredients or does not have enough water
What to do if food burns on the base of the Thermomix® mixing bowl
Do not worry, following this simple step will help you to clean the bowl again:
Burned food can be cleaned from the mixing bowl by soaking in hot, soapy water for 20-30 minutes and scrubbed with a green cleaning pad and/or steel wool.
The residues should now come off quite easily.
If these steps do not help you remove the stains from the mixing bowl, the problem is out of the ordinary. Do not use your mixing bowl again.
